Bondi Harvest, Aussie-inspired breakfast & lunch cafe dishing up organic sandwiches

When you think of Australia, you also tend to think of beach waves, tanned skin, fit bodies, and a bunch of Lemingtons and meat pies – not sandwiches. But, there is more to Australian food than pastries and pies, and that side is what the folks at Bondi Harvest would like to share with the people in LA.

Bondi Harvest is the idea of designer Mark Alston and chef Guy Turland, who are both outdoor enthusiasts with a laid-back style. The duo has their own Youtube cooking channel in Australia and they also own a café in Bondi Beach. But, they wanted to share what they do best outside of Australia, that is why Bondi Harvest was born.

Bondi Harvest is not just like any Australian-inspired restaurant. Alston and Turland want to make sure that they focus on and promote healthy eating by cooking good food from locally sourced produce.

The chickens that they use are free range and non-GMO and they use other healthy ingredients to prepare menu items that they serve for breakfast and lunch. They also have tartines, sandwiches, smoothies, as well as coffee and tea. They do not serve dinner as they are only open until 4:00 in the afternoon.

For breakfast, we’d ordered these delicious items:

  • Eggs on toast (fried, poached) – two eggs, multigrain toast with oven baked tomato and BH garden herbs
  • Sweet squash pancakes (YUM) – winter squash pancakes served with sweet avocado, mint, housemade GF granola and berries
  • Kombucha soaked overnight oats – probiotic oats served with berries and GF housemade granola (SO GOOD!)
  • Caveman bowl – chimichurri dressed cauliflower rice with kale, turmeric quinoa, fermented veg, fried egg, bacon, pistachio dukkah housemade hummus

If you’re the sandwich type, check out this restaurant – Baco Mercat, highly recommended.

EkoEats, a Korean-inspired Cafe Serves Up Quick-Serve Salads, Korean-Fried Chicken and Tofu

In the heart of Los Angeles’ downtown financial district lies a cozy Korean inspired restaurant called Eko Eats and people are very pleased. It is the passion project of Chef Judy Han, who is also the sole owner of the place, as she intends to offer not only delicious but healthy and practical Korean food for everyone to enjoy.

This is great news for vegans and people who have dietary restrictions who always find it challenging to look for a place where they can eat to their hearts’ content. Eko Eats has a lot of vegan and gluten-free options on their menu, as well as traditional Korean dishes for those who love to eat just about anything.

Chef Han gets her poultry and other produce from a sustainable, local Southern California farmer that is why people can be assured that the food they eat is only made from the freshest ingredients.

For gatherings and events, Eko Eats also offers catering services, but it should be noted that 48 hours notice is required as much as possible. They also offer delivery, with a delivery charge, to any location that is within walking distance from them.

Their traditional Korean dishes such as bibimbap, kimchi fried rice, jook (porridge), and Korean fried chicken are worth trying as well as other items on their simple and practical menu.
